Convict Charlotte Wear BH

10th December 1783
Dear Journal, I have just been tried at the Old Bailey for assault and robbery to the value of 10 shillings. My sentence is 7 years  TRANSPORTATION!!! I wish I'd been more sneaky and not let the owner see me. Those little rats of people told the street runners and I got held in that cold, little, squishy cell for 2 days while the Old Bailey court was full. The Dunkirk hulk gave a report that I was behaving ''better than formerly'' but I wasn't trying to so I punched another woman. I'm not really leaving anyone behind but I've heard rumours that New South Wales is a shadowy place, dry, flat and way too hot. My life working as a slave has been hard so I turned to a life of crime. I feel so sad, but it could be a good opportunity for me to start a good life.
