Dear journal,I do not know how we are going to surive this awful times at NSW.I heard that a man escaped.He then came back a day later.I want to out of this stinky clothes.I am tired every day of work and hungry all the time and I am defintely goig to steal someone's food soon.I wish a group of ships would come and I would plan an ambush then we all will just some food!!!!!I have just learnt how to farm and I never knew how hard it was.I just feel like crying for the rest of my life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear Diary
We just left Tenerife 5 weeks ago,I overheard the officers say we were going to Rio de Janeiro to get supplies I wish that the ship I'm on (Friendship) actually let everyone be nice and cheerful .Some older convicts took my food.I WAS FURIOUS and yet upset that was the only food I have,so now I'm starving.No one will share with and I feel like I'm going to pass out from starvation.We have had some pretty wild storms and i kept on falling off my bunk.I don't know how much longer I can take this horrible smell!

Dear Journal,
I'm at the Old Baaily because I stole linen. It was 20 shillings. I am only 32 years old.I have children and I don't wont to leave them. I hope I don't get hung. The judge just said I'm getting sentenced to New South Wales. My life is horrible. I'am a servant. I don't get paied much but now I'm in a hulk getting ready to get transported. I have irons around my neck, ankles and wrists. They are all chained together. I am so scared about getting to transported to New South Wales. My name is Elizabeth Anderson.I don't believe I'm getting transported for 7 YEARS!!!!! In 7 years time I 'm going to be 39 years old. I hope at New South Wales there's no animals that eat you, if there is I'm going to scream as loud as I can. By Elizabeth Anderson.

dear journal the runers didtn't get me I divid in to a alleyin london road.it wasnuddy an infeted with hous poo. it was diskusting and I wish I had enough money for some watercreses also for my children and me too.I stole an apple bet sudent the runner were runing one day later I was at the judge charls Allen two years transpation to botney bay.I wonder if I will serve it.

My name is Thomas Dickson, I'm really scared of going to New South Wales.There could be dangerous animals that could attack us. I am 22 years old, I am a crossing boy. My family was very sad to see me leave. I stole a horse worth about forty shillings. I was sentenced to seven years transportation. My life is nice in some ways but mostly horrible. I never get clean water. I hate being poor. I could be in luck and New South Wales wont be that bad but I dont want to leave my wonderful family !

Today I woke up and thought I was dreaming, it was horrible. I'm going to the Derby. The bow street runners took me to the Derby, I was terrified. The judge saidsle"Arther Beardsly I sentence you to(there was a silence in the room) five years transportation to New South Wales." I was scared butI didn't know what he meant. After court I went back to New Gate Prison. At the age of 21 didn't think I would be stealing clothes. My life as a pickpocket was horrible and probably be worse in New South Wales. I'm terrifed to be going to New South Wales.
